Riporto per quel che mi ricordo quella che è la storia di Daniele così da poter comprendere bene il contesto da cui nasce il testo di questa canzone.

Daniele, il protagonista del racconto, è uomo stimato dal faraone ed è fortemente invidiato dai suoi colleghi di corte che tramano per ucciderlo. Inventano quindi una legge che pone la condanna a morte per chi prega altre divinità al di fuori del re. Il re, amico di Daniele, si fa ingannare ed approva la legge. Daniele fedele servitore del Dio ebraico si trova quindi rapidamente gettato nella fossa dei Leoni nonnostante lo stesso faraone cerchi in vario modo di salvarlo. Daniele poi grazie al suo rapporto "fortunato" anche con Dio non subirà alcun danno dai leoni che staranno con lui i 30 giorni previsti dalla legge emanata dal sovrano.

"Dio ha mandato il suo angelo e ha chiuso la bocca dei leoni, e non mi hanno ridotto in rovina, dato che davanti a lui si è trovata in me l’innocenza stessa; e anche davanti a te, o re, non ho fatto nessun atto dannoso"

Daniele viene quindi liberato dal faraone e i suoi accusatori con famiglie al seguito verranno poi gettati nella fossa.

La canzone si riferisce alla storia di Daniele raccontata nel libro di Daniele ( fa parte dei racconti dell'antico testamento della Bibbia). Tale personaggio era in grado di interpretare i sogni che lui stesso faceva e di prevedere in questo modo avvenimenti futuri.
